Happy. - Imposter Syndrome Album Review
Pop-Rock Emo band Happy. are dropping their new album Imposter Syndrome on Friday October 30th. Signed to Rude Records, and working with producer Marc McClusky the band have been able to put together a soundtrack that tackles the experience they have had with Imposter Syndrome. Focusing on a positive approach to mental health discussions, and upbeat songs to change the narrative.
Opening the album is “Sick Is The New Sane” with its pop hooks and dancing melodies. This track tackles the feelings around the constant need to be involved online and attached through social media instead of being present in the real life around them.
“A Cure For Wellness” is a heavy song lyrically taking the form of therapy while dealing with a loved one that was battling addiction and the darkness that came along with it. Working with Marc McClusky they were able to take a very vulnerable subject and a song that features raw and emotional lyrics into a showcase of their new sound, and the new direction of band.
A song that is easily relatable is “LiarLiar” . Speaking about the internal struggles that we all go through regarding mental health and the struggle of knowing what we need to do to work on the issues, but lying to ourselves. As well as the flip side of that where we put on the fake smile and facade for those around us to see that we are are “okay” even when we are likely not okay.
For all of those overthinkers in the crowd, “Background Noise” is going to be a new anthem. Hitting the feels of unresolved situations always playing in the back of your head. “No it’s not about me but do it for my sake / Just need the closure to spare me some heartache” is a driving lyric and message that so many people have felt and the translation into this song is a powerful one.
The album continues to flow with catchy hooks, melodic tones, and upbeat vibes covering honest lyrics. They explain, “From the lows of depression, anxiety, and addiction, to the highs of traveling, making friends and living the dream, this record is our everlasting chase for ‘success.’” Imposter Syndrome drops on October 30th so be sure to go grab your copy and save it on your favorite streaming service!
