Simple Plan rock Indy with State Champs and We The Kings

Simple Plan, with co-headliners State Champs are currently touring the US with We The Kings and Northbound joining them. The 20 stop tour made its stop in Indianapolis, Indiana on 11/10 in the Egyptian Room at Old National Centre.

Opening the show was Northbound, who put on a fun pop punk show to a crowd that was growing in anticipation of what the night had in store. Their set was a solid build up for the other bands on the tour and got the crowds energy to jump a few levels.

We The Kings came out to a huge pop in crowd energy and excitement. Starting their set with some classic songs, “Skyway Avenue” and “She Takes Me High”. before leading into an amped up version of “Sad Song”. Then about halfway through their set something really special happened. A fan had worked with the band to surprise their girlfriend who was photographing the show, getting to join each other on stage and he proposed to her with the help of lead singer Travis Clark. She said “Yes!” of course.

Next was State Champs, who has always gotten huge reactions from midwest pop punk fans. Typically when they have come through Indianapolis in the past they have played in The Deluxe, which is in the basement of the Old National Centre. But this show was in the much larger Egyptian Room, which gave fans plenty of space to truly enjoy their set. High energy, screaming lyrics, mosh pits, and crowd surfers, there was nothing this set didn’t have.

Headlining the show was Simple Plan, as a 20 year fan of theirs it was awesome to see them come out with so much energy, to such a huge reaction from fans. I would go so far as to say that they are performing at the highest level that they ever have. The performance was as close to flawless as you could get, really developing their performance style and energy over the last 20 years. The show hit all the spots of a feel good nostalgia show, but also all the spots of a high energy pop punk show. Closing the set, prior to an encore, Simple Plan performed “Where I Belong” with members of State Champs, and We The Kings joining them on the track.

There are still several dates available for you to get out to. I highly recommend checking this show out if it is coming anywhere near you because you will not be disappointed.
