3 Doors Down at the TCU Amphitheater

After a year that we can all agree was the weirdest, and hardest year we have ever experienced as a society live music is starting to come back. Live music coming back is a sign of normalcy, a sign of hope that things will be ok, and a sign that we can and will heal. After about 18 months of no live music, the last show I covered was February 2020, I was able to attend the 3 Doors Down and Seether tour. The tour made its stop at the TCU Amphitheater in Indianapolis, Indiana on August 6th, 2021.

There was a sea of fans, ranging from life long fans, to new fans, some looking for nostalgia, and some looking for a rock show. None that attended could have left disappointed.

Unfortunately due to some major miscommunication between tour management, tour press, and the venue security we were unable to photograph Seether, we were even denied access to our seats to review the performance. It is really unfortunate because I was excited to see the band do what they do best, however I cannot say objectively my view of their set. I will say that from the area that I was the crowd was loud and seemed to enjoy the show.

3 Doors Down took the stage and the crowd absolutely erupted. Taking the stage and kicking off with easily one of their biggest songs ever, Kryptonite. From there the energy level was set and the crowd was immediately drawn into this high energy sing-a-long. Continuing the nostalgic effect with Loser, and Duck and Run to follow. These tracks are also the opening tracks in that order to the 2000 release The Better Life, which this tour was the 20th anniversary of. Lead singer Brad Arnold spoke to the fans thanking them for the years of support and spoke about the disbelief that they’ve been able to do this for more than 20 years. He also stated that he still considers this the 20 year anniversary of the album because “last year doesn’t count” and I think many fans and fellow artists would agree.

As the band continued to play through the album fans never lost focus or energy. The ebb and flow of the album translated perfectly to the crowd as they sang out very loudly. Even as the softer and slower songs of the album came up fans matched the energy of the band and while they may not have been jumping around, they were absolutely singing their hearts out and absorbing every note that was played. I heard hands down the loudest karaoke rendition of Be Like That I’ll likely ever experience.

After completing the album play through the band hit fans with a few more of their more popular songs like Away From The Sun, It’s Not My Time, When I’m Gone, and of course Here Without You.

If you’ve ever been a fan of 3 Doors Down I highly suggest you get out and see this tour if it is near you. Again unfortunately we can’t provide much insight on the Seether set from the Indianapolis date, but I can say that I did not see a single fan in attendance that walked away looking upset that they didn’t get an absolute rock show.
